Wednesday brought more snow to the Upper Midwest as we anticipated with our station in Oshkosh just starting to accumulate by late Tuesday afternoon. Click here to check out the current conditions:
You can also tell in the video that it was quite windy there and across the Midwest. Winds gusted as high at 60 mph in Iowa and gusts were in the 30-40 mph range elsewhere:
A squall line came through Syracuse with a nice shelf cloud and a 41 mph wind gust:
Tomorrow, the big story will be the lake effect snow, especially in the I-90 corridor from Buffalo to Erie. Be sure to check the conditions before you head out as visibilities and conditions will be poor:
Much of the country will wake up to chilly temperatures tomorrow am, so bundle up for those Turkey Trots:
Now to the return trip home where the expected snow storm is taking shape:
If you have to travel I-80 from Chicago to Omaha, avoid Saturday at all costs as it will be a treacherous drive. While less impactful, the I-35 corridor from Kansas City down to Dallas will have rain and a few storms. Head back home Friday or Sunday if you can:
Snow totals continue to increase and could easily exceed 12" across the region:

Since we shared this before, here is a look at the past several runs of the Euro model with the total snow for Chicago. The forecast has locked in around that 12" range now:
On to Sunday, that system will track into the eastern US 
Travel should be avoided across much of Michigan on Sunday as it will be their turn for significant snow. The models have also continued to increase their totals and have similarly locked into a significant storm for the Motor City:
