The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) has adopted a new Extreme Heat Policy for the 2025–26 academic year. Schools must:
Monitor WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) at outdoor practices and workouts
Limit practices to 2.5 hours per session and no more than 5 hours per day, with a one-hour rest between sessions
Follow a 14-day acclimatization period for all student participants
Establish rapid cooling zones with cold-water immersion or equivalent methods when WBGT ≥ 82.0°F
Record WBGT readings every 30 minutes during practices
Forecasts can’t meet these requirements—OSSAA stresses real-time, on-site measurement and documentation.

Protect goes beyond WBGT. It continuously measures:
WBGT + Heat Index for hot/humid conditions
Sub-second updates, not delayed forecasts
Time-stamped logs for compliance reviews and audits
Text and email alerts included as standard
Configurable to your district’s specific OSSAA policy
Hands-off installation + ongoing maintenance included
Trusted by school districts, universities, and professional venues nationwide.
Trusted by state agencies, school districts, and professional venues
Visual beacons
Horns for maximum reach or optional text-to-speech
Integrates with Protect for practice stoppages
Duplicate Text Alerts to Administrators and automated log for compliance
