Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 14, 2026
Update Summary (April 14, 2026): Updated to reflect Weatherstem’s data commercialization practices, Station Data licensing rights, camera and broadcast network agreements, and alignment with current Terms of Service. Added sections covering data categories, third-party data sharing, government customer provisions, and data retention practices.
This Privacy Policy describes how WeatherSTEM Inc., doing business as Weatherstem (“Weatherstem,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, shares, and retains information through our websites at weatherstem.com, getweatherstem.com, and all associated subdomains, our platform, mobile applications, and Services
1. Information We Collect
We collect two categories of information:
Customer and Contact Information. Information you voluntarily provide when contacting us, requesting a demo, placing an order, or creating an account. This includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, billing addresses, and organizational information. This is personally identifiable information (“PII”) and is treated as described in Section 3 below.
Station Data. Environmental and operational data generated by weather stations, sensors, cameras, and related hardware deployed as part of the Services. This includes sensor readings (temperature, humidity, wind speed, pressure, air quality, lightning detection), GPS coordinates, station location identifiers, timestamps, and video and image feeds from cameras. Station Data is not personally identifiable information. GPS coordinates and station location data identify a physical deployment location, not a natural person, and are treated accordingly.
Location and Device Data. When you use our mobile application, we may collect your device location to deliver geographically relevant alerts and notifications. Location data is collected when the app is running in the foreground and, with your explicit permission, in the background. You may withdraw location permissions at any time through your device settings, which will disable location-based notifications.
Usage and Platform Data. Standard web and platform analytics including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and session duration, collected via cookies and similar technologies for platform improvement and security purposes.
2. How We Use Information
Customer and Contact Information is used to fulfill orders, deliver Services, respond to inquiries, process payments, and communicate about your account. We may contact you about new products, services, or policy updates unless you opt out.
Station Data is used to provide and improve the Services, operate our platform and alert systems, develop forecasting models and network analytics, and support Weatherstem’s commercial data products and licensing programs as described in Section 3.
Location Data is used solely to deliver geographically relevant alerts and notifications through our mobile application.
Usage Data is used for platform security, performance optimization, and aggregate analytics.
3. How We Share Information
Customer and Contact Information. We do not sell or rent your personal contact information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may share contact information with service providers who assist in operating our platform, processing payments, or delivering Services, under confidentiality obligations. Mobile opt-in and SMS consent data is never shared with any third party for any purpose.
Station Data. Station Data, including real-time and historical sensor readings, GPS coordinates, and camera and video feeds, may be shared with and licensed to third parties as part of Weatherstem’s commercial data programs. This includes:
- Broadcast networks and media organizations licensed to display camera feeds and weather readings
- API partners and data resellers licensed to access real-time or historical data feeds
- Dashboard and platform licensees with access to station-level or network-level data
- Aggregated data products distributed to commercial, research, or government buyers
Station Data shared with third parties may include individually identified station readings and location data where necessary for the data product or license agreement. Weatherstem does not share Customer contact information or PII as part of these data licensing arrangements.
Aggregated and Derived Data. Weatherstem may create aggregated, de-identified, or derived data products using Station Data from across its network. These products are the exclusive property of Weatherstem and may be commercialized without restriction or individual client attribution.
Legal and Compliance Disclosure. We may disclose information where required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Weatherstem, our customers, or the public.
4. Camera and Video Data
Camera and video feeds captured by hardware deployed as part of the Services are included within Weatherstem’s data license and may be shared with broadcast networks, media organizations, and other licensed third parties. Customers are solely responsible for ensuring camera deployments comply with applicable federal, state, and local privacy laws, and for obtaining any required consents from individuals who may appear within camera coverage areas.
Weatherstem does not use camera feeds for facial recognition or individual identification purposes.
5. Government and Regulated Customers
For customers that are federal, state, or local government entities, public schools, or public universities, data sharing and commercialization practices are subject to applicable law governing government-controlled or publicly funded data. Where applicable law restricts third-party sharing of a specific government customer’s individually identified Station Data, those restrictions apply to that customer’s data only. Weatherstem retains full rights to aggregated and de-identified network data in all cases.
6. Data Retention
We retain Customer and Contact Information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
We retain Station Data during the active Services term. Upon termination or expiration of Services for any reason, including non-payment or non-renewal, Weatherstem has no obligation to retain Station Data and may delete, archive, or otherwise dispose of it at our sole discretion. Weatherstem retains aggregated and derived data products indefinitely as proprietary network assets.

8. Security

In the event of a confirmed security breach affecting your personal contact information, we will notify you without undue delay as required by applicable law.
