Weatherstem Completes First Starlink-Connected Weather Station Deployment

Weatherstem has successfully integrated Starlink satellite connectivity into the Florida Severe Weather Mesonet, completing its first satellite-connected station deployment in rural Liberty County, Florida

Weatherstem has completed its first Starlink satellite-connected weather station deployment, expanding the Florida Severe Weather Mesonet into rural Liberty County, Florida.

The FSWN Liberty Sumatra station is part of Florida's state-funded severe weather monitoring network operated in partnership with the Florida Division of Emergency Management. When site assessment confirmed that cellular data connectivity was not viable at the rural Liberty County location, the county identified Starlink satellite connectivity as an alternative. Weatherstem successfully integrated the Starlink connection into the station deployment, bringing the site fully online at (INSERT STATION PAGE)

The deployment marks a meaningful expansion in where Weatherstem stations can operate. Remote rural counties, wilderness areas, and off-grid facilities that have previously been ruled out due to cellular coverage gaps are now viable deployment locations.

Weatherstem stations deployed through the Florida Severe Weather Mesonet provide real-time weather data every 0.8 seconds, automated NWS alert integration, live HD camera feeds, and permanent timestamped data logging for emergency operations.

For facilities or agencies that have been unable to deploy weather monitoring due to connectivity limitations, contact Weatherstem to discuss satellite connectivity options.
