The word of the day and week is wind! Many of our stations across New England gusted over 40 mph today:Screenshot 2025-11-04 at 2.59.40 PM

In the clips below from Andover and Hawthorne, MA you can see the trees swaying:

Another round of strong winds are likely late Wednesday night into Thursday morning with gusts 40-50 mph likely and even stronger right at the coast:

Image 9-Nov-04-2025-08-16-09-8238-PMThis wind will be generated by quick-moving systems that will travel across the Northern Tier through the weekend:

ecmwf-deterministic-east-instant_ptype-1762257600-1762344000-1762776000-20The last system that moves through late this weekend will usher in the coldest temperatures of the season so far. High temperatures next Monday likely won't get out of the 30s and 40s for many of us across the Eastern US:

As we mentioned yesterday, this looks to set up the first lake-effect snow event of the season across the Great Lakes:

The good news is next week's cold shot is short lived and temperatures quickly rebound to above average. Compare the 5 day temperature departures from Nov 9 - 14 to those from Nov 14 - 19:

Meanwhile, the Western US will also experience strong winds, especially right at the coast where gusts over 50 mph are expected overnight Tuesday into Wednesday:

This is due to a strong atmospheric river that will pump moisture into the region with totals really adding up through the rest of this week:

The sun was out this morning across Eugene, OR but clouds quickly moved in throughout the day:

Rain will move in later on Tuesday and some storms could even turn severe on Wednesday. Track the current conditions and forecasts for Eugene below:
