Oct 29: Melissa Heads Out While Fall Weather Takes Over

After devastating parts of Jamaica yesterday and moving across Cuba early today, Melissa has been working its way through the Bahamas and will speed off toward Bermuda tomorrow. You can see a burst of convection reforming over the warm waters of the Bahamas in the below satellite image:

96704663-2Conditions will improve across the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos this evening as Melissa races toward Bermuda:

The below satellite image is pretty impressive, showing the large circulation with the system over the US with Melissa's much smaller satellite shield:

96704663The word of the day today has been wind. The cyclone moving its way across the country is really whipping up the winds. Look at the peak gusts around New Orleans today:
